Door replacement scope, front through full-house
Most East Valley door projects are one of four shapes — a single front door upgrade, a slider patio door, a full-house door package, or a bundled door + window scope. Each has different install logistics. Tap a scope to see how we detail it for the desert.
Doors that survive the desert envelope
Door performance in the East Valley is dominated by thermal cycling and UV. The Phoenix sun pushes south + west-facing front doors to 160°F surface temperatures by mid-afternoon in July — cheap door slabs warp, hardware loosens, and the seal between slab and frame opens. We spec doors rated for that load. Background reading at Wikipedia's door entry and the Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) covers the discipline.
Sliders and patio doors are a separate animal. The track rail, roller, and weatherstrip detail decide whether the slider runs smoothly for ten years or seizes in two. We install to AAMA/FGIA certification standards — the same install spec that backs the window install warranty. Sun-exposed sliders need UV-stable seals; we name the spec on the proposal.
Sequencing with paint and trim is where most door installs go sideways. Door replacement that touches the casing needs the caulk cured and the trim painted in order. Our dedicated PM owns the schedule — measure, manufacture lead time, install date, and finish — so you see one timeline, not a guess. Workmanship warranty is five years in writing, Licensed in Arizona, verifiable through the ROC contractor search.
What pairs with a door package
Door replacement rarely stands alone. Exterior painting is the most common pair — fresh paint on the casing, trim, and the elevation around the install. Windows + sliders bundle naturally with front-door work so the install crew handles both in one trip.
For a bigger scope, see the whole-house exterior remodel pillar that bundles doors, windows, paint, stucco, fascia, and roof under one PM. Or read about stucco repair when the prior door install left rough-opening damage we need to chase to the substrate.

Frequently asked
Asked and answered.
- What brand of door do you install?
- Brand and product line are named on the proposal. We spec major fiberglass, steel, and solid-wood door brands rated for desert exposure. The right material for the elevation drives the brand choice — fiberglass on south + west exposures where UV is brutal, solid wood under deep eaves where shade buys longevity.
- Do slider patio doors come with the same install standard as front doors?
- Yes — both install to AAMA/FGIA certification. Sliders are mechanically more complex (track, rollers, weatherstrip) so the install detail is different, but the warranty term and quality bar are the same.
- How long does a door install take?
- Same-day for a front door swap with no opening changes. Slider patio doors are typically one to two days because the rough opening usually needs trim adjustment. Full-house packages run two to four days depending on the count and finish scope. The PM names the day count on the proposal.
- Do you do hardware too?
- Yes — lockset, knob/handle, deadbolt, hinges, and weatherstrip are part of the install. We can match an existing hardware finish or swap to a new one. Hardware brand and finish are named on the proposal.
